Design decisions¶
- Publish every version for free; kits come later
- Standalone first, Home Assistant optional
- Dedicated firmware replaces ESPHome
- Arduino-ESP32 on PlatformIO; PWM servos only in V1
- Home Assistant via MQTT discovery first, dedicated integration later
- Open licences, reserved name
- Plain HTML/CSS/JS Device interface, home-screen shortcut instead of a PWA
- ESP8266 is not supported, and almost certainly never will be
- Support flows end in GitHub issues; the robot never calls out
- Native Home Assistant integration in its own repository, MQTT discovery kept
- A Wi-Fi change made from the home network falls back to that network
- The browser fetches firmware updates for the robot
